I investigate my environment by experimenting with materials which present themselves in the place I inhabit. By working with my hands, touch allows me to understand how different qualities of matter can work together and how they can be transformed. Not limiting my choices I reorganize inorganic, organic, and man-made materials and re-imagine them in new forms. My practice is a continuously evolving conversation with material.

My process oriented art practice is a creative play fueled by my curiosity and guided by my life experience and my reverence for nature. My preferred processes are fiber related techniques, which are elemental creative techniques connecting me to my earliest hominid ancestors. Feeling this kinship commits me to these repetitive techniques; stitching, stamping, lashing, knotting, joining, weaving, and mark making are all expressions of my innate rhythms and reflect on the effects of time and the mundane as they veer my mood. I am curious to unearth these cadences as tokens of existence, which are for me meaningful manifestations of self.

My work mirrors the perpetual process of material transformation in nature, and it’s ultimately a meditation on life, death, and renewal. By presenting curious objects, I draw the viewers’ attention to the beauty of nature and awaken their wonder. I call on the observer to appreciate the present moment and acknowledge impermanence.
